結論: a slide
話したい内容を自然な英語にするために IDIY という英文添削サービスを利用して毎日100語の英文日記を書いている。それについてはこちらの記事を参照してほしい。添削サービスによって、新しい表現を都度都度学んでいるのだが、中には自分が（ある意味）恥ずかしいミスをしたものもあるので、積極的に公開していきたいと思う。

（余談だが、Twitterの投票機能を使ったのは初めてで、数字上600人くらいのフォロワーがいるにも関わらず投票数は30だった。いかに休眠アカウントや業者アカウントが多いかを示していて、改めてフォロワー数など意味がないなと感じた次第である）

子ども用のすべり台を買ったことを英文日記に書いたのだが、a slider と表現したところ、講師からのフィードバックは次のようなものだった。（頭の中にはウォータースライダーなどがイメージされた）
Once again, this is a really good effort. I hope that I have understood the meaning correctly, but please accept my apologies if I have not. I do not know what a 'slider' is, so I looked it up on the internet, and it appears to be some type of hamburger. I am assuming that this is not what you bought him? Therefore, I have amended this to the noun 'slide,' which is a toy that a child climbs up and then slides down. I am sorry if this is not what you meant. My husband always says we have bought enough for our son, but I always want to buy more. Well tried.
