結論: without stopping = 24時間を表す。日夜忙しく働くシーンで使う。
Podcast (BBC World Business Report か BBC Business Daily) を聴いていて出てきた表現。サイバーセキュリティーの会社を紹介する際に、
This is the business which needs to monitor the flawed information, across the Internet, around the world, around the clock.
という説明をしていた（うる覚えかつ Siri でディクテーションしたので、間違っているかもしれない）。
やけに耳障りが良かったのと、上手に使いこなしたいフレーズだなと思ったので備忘メモ。特に、上記の例の across ~ clock. まで、ひとまとめて使いたい。
用例①
まずは大衆紙 The Guardian の例から。働くことに使っている。
Part of that means creating a new picture of which qualities are necessary for success – including doing away with the idea that they must be single-mindedly working around the clock.
用例②
こちらは Seattle Timesの例。
The company plans to match 72 percent of the facilities’ hourly electricity use with carbon-free sources, supporting its goal of sourcing carbon-free electricity around the clock.
余談だが、24 時間 365 日中の電力供給を再生可能エネルギーだけで賄うことはかなり難しい。一方で Google のような会社が Data を求めて石油天然ガスの生産･販売を行うオイルメジャーと手を組むといった話も聞こえてきている。実際に、The Economist 誌は「 Google で働く環境派の若者が（環境派の敵である）オイルメジャーと組むことに賛成するはずがない」という論を立てている。

用例③
The New York Timesからも例。こちらでは、働くシーンというわけではないが、医療/治療が24時間必要な人々に対する使用方法。
The amount prescribed, according to a federal Centers for Disease Control spokeswoman, “was enough for every individual in the county to be medicated around the clock for 15 weeks.”
*本筋とは関係ないが、Centers と米語スペルになっている。英語スペルだと Centres 。
用例④
Wall Street Journal からの例。
こちらでは自動車工場が24時間稼動する際に使われている。
Many of its truck and SUV plants operate around the clock making popular models like the Jeep Wrangler and Cherokee, and its Ram truck.
用例⑤
高級紙 The Economist の例も忘れずに。
It is not a good time to be producing power round the clock.
The average real-time price around midday has dropped sharply, whereas after sundown average prices have increased. The more solar capacity is installed, the authors find, the worse for baseload generators—that is, those that produce electricity around the clock.
イギリス英語においては、around ではなく round が使われる、と世界的に有名な文法書で習った。検索して出てきた小見出し(一文目)に出会ったときに少し感動したのだが、その本文では普通に around になっていた。なので、米語だろうが英語だろうが around the clock で覚えてしまって良い感じ。
用例⑥
少し前に読んでいた Harry Potter シリーズにも出ていたので、最後に引用する。
Otherwise, he was locked in his room around the clock.
