結論: suss out = figure out = 理解する。
相手方（○○）の可能性や都合を探ってもらうようなシーンにおいて、部下のオーストラリアj人女性がよく「アイジャストサッサー○○」と言う。この「サッサー」という表現については知らないが、おそらく check とか ask とかに近い意味だろうと文脈から判断していたので、意思の疎通あるいはコミュニケーションの問題は発生しなかった。
が、徐々にわからない言葉があることに悶々としてきた。彼女が言っているのはSesser? なのか Sasser? なのか。似たような音で Siri に聞いても聞き取ってもらえない（純ジャパの限界）し、辞書で調べても出てこない。
3 ヶ月くらいが経過したある日、勇気を振り絞って聞いてみた。
Nate: What do you mean by “サッサー”?
Dian: It’s an Aussie slung, サッサー.
Nate: （サッサーとしか聞こえない･･･）Oh, can you spell it for me?
Dian: Sure, S U S S O U T, suss out.
Nate: Gotcha.
疑問が氷解した。”suss out” までわかればこっちのものだ。
ということで、とりあえず Oxford Dictionary で調べた結果。
どうやらイギリスのスラングらしい。元々は suspect あるいは suspicion から派生した単語。
一方で、オーストラリアのスラングだとする人も見かけたし、実際オーストラリア人が使っているので、オーストラリアのスラングだと言っても過言ではないだろう。
